Empirical Research and Methodology

Posted on April 29, 2008

Traditionally the divide between sociology and law, social policy has been bridged by the socio-legal scientists. But the disciplines which belong to the field of humanities attract more and more increasing interest. For decades, social scholars have aimed at improvement of carried out by them researches by enhancing scientific procedures. They came to a conclusion that the experimental design strategies which they apply in physical and biological sciences are very helpful and instructive. The control group strategies and the strategy of randomization as well as the experimental design strategies got well-known and accepted during this period. However, soon followed the disappointment of the scientists; they learned many things, but the positivist approach to the research turned out to be a limitation of their thinking, it actually overlooked the valuable information. As a consequence, other scientific procedures also turned out to be applicable for social science research.
It should be given the definition of empirical research. It is any research which includes collection of new information. This type of research is a subject of study on Research Methods courses. These courses study the various ways of making link between theory and empirical evidence. The suggestion of Gerry Rose is two basic ways: when empirical is applied for theory testing; and when empirical evidence serves for helping in creation of new theories.
Consequently, methodology has to do with the methods and principles which are applied in an activity. In the chapter devoted to the methodology the researcher gives the explanation of how he carried out the research, methods of data collecting, materials which were used in the research etc. He explains the choice of the methods.
After a person has chosen the research topic, the choice of the method is the following important step. Two variants are possible: a qualitative method consists in collection of information by interview; a quantitative study lies in carrying out a survey through self-completion questionnaire.

Miracles as Non-natural Events

Posted on April 22, 2008

Over time, a lot of miracles became more and more understood. In the words of Hume, some miracles are tricks of nature, for example, the division of the Red Sea in the well-known history of the Bible. This miracle can be explained easily: when there is a low tide, the person can cross the sea. The Egyptian army collapsed because he was very fitted. This is not just mere conjecture, as the organs and armor were found at the bottom of the Red Sea. The most obvious of which was the cause of this occasion. Hume says that miracles are breaking the laws of nature. According to his explanation, the lifting of the mountain can be considered a miracle, as well as flight of birds in the sky. As a result, it is a miracle that the phenomenon can be explained from a scientific point of view. Hume calls for the transgressions of the laws of nature. Hume does not define natural events as miracles, but if these miracles can be explained scientifically, that are possible. As a result, the miracle is not a miracle. One more Hume is the assumption that what people are thinking about superstition. When people think clearly about religion, they begin to lose faith in him. Criticism of Hume has no aim to prove that religion is false. He says that the only way to stick to their belief is that support, which is giving some indisputable reasons to help those beliefs. If there is evidence of some rational beliefs, it is necessary to show and to convince the others to it. So, as a result we can say that Christianity has no miracles. In this situation, called fideists are right. They are people who adhere to their beliefs, without any test miracles, you just get thief faith.

The Main Features of God

Posted on April 22, 2008

Many scientists were trying to give a definition of God. One theory is that more than Anselm, which begins by saying that God is being contemplated. Anselm when he says this, which means that there is nothing greater than God and that it is not possible to think of something better. In the opinion of God than the best possible reflection and image that can appear in mind, a pure and innocent as it is not in this world. Anselm also says that if God is the best idea of thinking, and he emphasizes the fact that it must be impossible to create something better than God can. Hence, it is almost impossible to stick to it, to the extent that God exists only in the mind of anyone. God is much greater, and this is why it can not exist only in the imagination, but in fact as well. Also, Anselm suggests that God has a lot of features, attributed to him and can only be described in the best possible way. He also enumerates the characteristics of self-existent, need, justice, science and holistic Kadeer. Among the features mentioned above, can choose the most important of all for him, although they are all very important. Is the most prominent self-existent. In fact, this means that God for anything depends on the quality, were not to have any reason, and that is durable and quality and that it can not end the list. It goes without saying that people are completely different, as they depend on many other factors exist, such as food and clothing. In other words, the people is being units, is that depends, in other words. The presence of units could begin or end with that at any time possible. In disagreement with God, they could be present today, and went tomorrow.

Memorials And Monuments

Posted on April 12, 2008

In the world there are a lot of places of interest and memory, which can evoke different feelings and emotions. In order for any landscape to be successful, it must bring to mind definite feelings and memories. Different events leave different monuments or memorials behind for future generations to remember them. It is not only some memorials of different beautiful moments or famous persons in the history of some country, but also some sad events. So, war is very remarkable, but unfortunately at the same time inevitable part of the history of each nation. It is necessary to remember and remind future generations about those events about the price of freedom that people enjoy today. There is nothing better for people to remember about war events than build some monuments. The main aim of the memorials is to preserve the memory of events, even if the events are very evil and unpleasant to remember, like war. Creating a good memorial does not mean the fill description of the event. For example, while creating the memorial of wounded soldier, it is not necessary to depict the ward. The absence of surgery table and medical tools gives the idea of vulnerability, that the soldiers were not treated in a proper way. Depicting some sympathy in the eyes of nurse is enough to make portray beautiful and successful. Looking at this portray, people would have certain emotions and feelings, and would never want to appear in that situation. As for the landscapes, their depictions are always successful as they show what made the country as it is today. For example sculptures can amaze people with their size, which practically life. This can explain the success of sculptures of the Middle Age; they are popular nowadays and without any problems are sold in different auctions.

The Very Popular Cross Tattoo

Posted on April 8, 2008

The cross tattoo remains one of the most popular designs that a tattoo artist creates. People generally choose things that are of great significance to them when they decide to get one.
A cross, in its many forms, represents a level of religious devotion and spirituality in cultures all over the world. Even beyond the bounds of the Judeo-Christian crosses that you may commonly think of, the variations on, and evolution of, the cross as an artistic design is very interesting.
While there are literally hundreds of design variations on the cross tattoo, one of the most popular is the Celtic design. Even though there are variations within this theme, the Celtic cross is characterized by a circle that sits behind the horizontal arms of the cross.
Based in large part on the burial stones that decorate the Celtic landscape, this design is very popular in memorial tattoos and can be integrated into a more complex tattoo easily.
The Latin cross tattoo is the most basic of all the different types of designs. This artistic design is what most people think of when they envision a cross. It is a simple pattern consisting of one long vertical line intersected by a horizontal line about 1/3 of the way down.
This is the design that is typically equated with the Christian version of the Cross of Christ, and is therefore the most popular design for artists who do religious tattoos. The tattoo is often done three dimensionally to look like wood.
It is popular to get one that integrates a cross with another design. A cross with a rose tattoo is very popular.
This design has a lot of religious significance but it also makes a visually stunning design because of the contrast between the hard edges of a cross and the softer, more feminine details of a rose.
A cross with a tribal tattoo design is another popular combination. Many times, those seeking one with religious meaning will choose a tribal design to represent a crown of thorns that surrounds the cross.
It may seem like a challenge to design a cross tattoo that is original. With so many people choosing to wear one, it can seem like all of the most creative possibilities have been used.
Take the opportunity to describe what you like to your artist. You may be pleasantly surprised at what he or she is able to design. Remember, the artist is primarily a creative person, so make sure you utilize the full scope of their talents.
While there is no such thing as a “new” cross, it is entirely possible to have a new cross artistic design that is wholly and completely yours. You can be an original.

Five Basic Ways To Market Your Music Online

5 Basic Ways To Market Your Piano Music Online
Many people have argued that there are no great piano composers in the modern world. They say that this art died fifty to one hundred years ago. Here are the facts there are still many unbelievable piano composers in the modern world today. However, whilst one cannot argue with their creative skills, they lack basic modern marketing skills. And the world is missing out on this distinguished talent.
The most affordable and convenient way to market your music today is through the internet. It is used by billions every single year. So why do many piano players fail to market their music online? Why do they go down the traditional route of taking it to a publisher?
Marketing Method Number One Creating Your Own Website with A List
If you make the decision to market your music online, it is almost criminal to do so without a website. Your website must be where you send all of your prospective customers. Your website must contain details on how to purchase your music, both online and offline. I would also recommend having a sample piece of music for clientele to listen to for free and to be able to download the score.
When you are building your website, you must include a list. What is a list? A list is a collection of email addresses of potential customers. Your list should be kept abreast on new pieces of music that you are creating. Also they should receive occasional incentives to remain on your list, eg. a free song or a discount.
It is much easier to sell to people that know and trust you then to sell to a complete stranger. But so many people in all facets of marketing spend more time on getting more customers than selling to previous customers. Do not make this same mistake. By investing no more than $US200 per year, you could and should have a major increase in sales.
Marketing Method Number Two Piano Radio Stations
Piano radio stations are a great way to market your music online. There are numerous radio stations on the World Wide Web that specialize in all sorts of areas, and piano is no exception. Whilst I could only speculate costs, you might be able to get your music played for free, or even better, you might be entitled to royalties from that particular radio station.
The main difference between radio piano stations and normal piano stations is that online users are able to click on a link that will take them directly to your site. So make sure that the music that you submit to radio stations are some of your best pieces of work and fit the mould of the station. Marketing Method Number Three Submitting Your Scores To Directories
There are numerous cases where piano composers only market their actual music and neglect to market their sheet music. This is such a silly thing to do. If a piano player likes listening to your music, then naturally they would want to learn to play it. Web sites like Free Piano Sheet Music would be more than willing to put your compositions onto their web site for free. Also you would get valuable links from your sheet music to your website.
Marketing Method Number Four You Tube
This is the new way to market your music online. You Tube has simply taken the world by storm, not only from a viewers perspective but from a marketing perspective also. Similar to video clips that you see on MTV you are able to create your own video of your music. It does not have to be a complicated task. The easiest way to do it is to record yourself at the piano playing the score and this would be enough. However if you have a theme to your music i.e. the ocean, then you would cut to shot of the beach, i.e. waves crashing on the rocks. Whatever you decide your video clip to be, make sure you put a visible URL at the end of your video as credits, so the viewer can take action to buy your music.
Marketing Method Number Five Piano Forums
Forums are an old and popular way to marketing your music, and it still works today. Not only can you specifically market your music in the forum, you can also market your music by just posting messages about anything related to the piano. For example, if there is a discussion about what is the best brand of piano, and you post your comments, you can put a link at the bottom of your post to your website. So not only do you market your music, you also marketing to the right group of people, piano players!
In conclusion these are much more effective methods of marketing your music then taking it to a publisher. Not only do you have much more control of your music, it is also much cheaper.
The world deserves to hear your music.

Posted on March 2, 2008

Burrhus Frederic Skinner having received his Doctorate in the year 1931, stayed at Harvard to do his research. In the year 1945 working at the Indiana University, he became the chairman of the Psychology department. In the year 1948 he was suggested to return to Harvard, he agreed and stayed there for the rest of his days. Skinner was a quite active man; he did research, guided many Doctoral candidates and at the same time wrote many books. Skinner was not a very good writer of fiction as well as poetry, but he became one of the most famous Psychology writers. He wrote a well-known book Walden II that is a fictional estimate of a community run by behavioral principles.
Skinner maintained that learning appeared as a consequence of the organism responding to, its environment, and created the term operant conditioning to depict this phenomenon. He did vast research with animals, especially with rats and pigeons. He is the inventor of the well-known Skinner box designed for a rat to learn to push a lever so as to get food. He made pioneering work connected with experimental psychology and supported behaviorism which consists in seeking to comprehend behavior as a function of reinforcement. Him also belongs a number of disputable work, in which suggested the prevalent application of psychological behavior modification methods, so as to enhance society and enlarge human happiness. Skinner belongs one of very interesting experiments in which he studied the creation of superstition. In this experiment he used one of his favorite test animals, the pigeon. This experiment showed that pigeons connected the delivery of food with some chance actions they had been doing as the food was delivered, and that they afterward proceeded to do the same actions.
Skinner devoted 60 years of his life to the researches in the field of psychology and became one of the most celebrated psychologists. At the age of 86 B.F. Skinner died of leukemia, it was on the 18th of August in 1990.
